5th Cylinder.. Not working??

Hey guys,

My car has been running horribly lately and now I know why. The 5th cylinder isn't working. I came to tihs becuase when I was unplugging the wires from the distrubitor all of the plug wires affected the engine except the 5th cylinder one.

I know the wires are good but can someone give me a list of what I should check? I sure hope it's not an injector.

Thanks,
Eric

lay the end of the spark plug wire on the intake manifold or some other metal surface near by, you should see a spark. It is most likely an injector though. Luckily on a VG, cylinders 1-3-5 are the easy ones to change.

I'd almost be willing to bet that it is an injector.

ok guys, I was checking the spark plugs and stuff. It turns out that the 5th cylinder was very oily, when compared to the others. The others were more or less dry and the tips kind of white. Do you think its time for e to replace the plugs?

Yes replace the plugs, but you also sound like you have blowby on the #5 cylinder which means rering time

if it is oil, and it is blowby, you have to "rebuild" the engine to get rid of it.
Actually it's a rering, but the engine still gets torn apart.

be glad if its just an injector... mine needs an entire rebuild because of low compression on 2 cylenders
