How dedicated are you?

I know that I would go to great lengths for my Max. Although Im limited in the money department, whatever needs done, will get done. I will keep my car till it dies...but I probably wont let it because I'll switch the engine out before that happens. What would you do for your Max?

Its just another project for me...more of a learning tool for me so I can get good enough with body work to be confident enough to tackle my true love (my 66 Chevelle). I really like my Maxima (and all the other ones I have owned) dont get me wrong but after I am finished I would not hesitate to sell it if the right price was offered. With that being said I doubt the right price would be offered for a 93 SE Maxima with all the time and stuff I have done to it.

after the engine swap i'd do about anything. swapped the turbo engine into the car on spring break of march '03. worked on it and tried getting it running from then until Nov. 13 of '03. around the beginning of november i was ready to get rid of the max and get a TTZ but i restrained myself and finally had it running.

now, my tranny is bad again. i've had 3 of them go out on me and i have a spare tranny that has one busted for a total of 4 ****ty *** input shaft bearings but, i don't care now. i can do a tranny swap so fast that it doesn't even bother me anymore. hopefully i'll be keeping my maxima for a long time.

same here, I wont get what I would have to for it to be worth it to sell but if I did I would.

its my lil baby, definetly a sweet lil car that keeps me happy whenever i drive it

my car may not look pretty right now and is falling apart but still, I will keep it running as long as I can. Money is really tight now but fix what I can when I can and keep my fingers crossed that the tranny will hold out till summer+

its just a car, I mean if something breaks Ill fix it but if it broke down on some train tracks and a train was coming I wouldnt think twice about leaving it there.

this will probably be the last year I dump any serious cash into it.

You going spoilerless Jason?

I'm dedicated enough that I'm selling mine rather than beating it with a sledge

yeah, it wont work with the new tails Im planing, Ill probably do like a small lip on the trunk instead, not really sure yet.

and yeah if the price is right, sell, im in so deep I cant really sell it anymore without taking a big loss, so its better to just keep it.

After a VTC install, two motor swaps, numerous CV/Clutches/tranny installs, suspension installs/swaps, interior swaps/HEATOR CORE, I'm getting sorta sick of this car. Until I find something better, I'll play with this FWD family car.

New engine, new shocks/struts, new brakes (rear disc conv.), 5spd conversion, 2 rebuilt auto tranny's, cv's/clutches...... I've dumped too much $$$ into mine to sell it. I'd take a big loss if I were to sell it and decided to pretty much drive it until the wheels fall off. It's now my beater daily driver, so I can concentrate on other things like my Z, future Porsches I will own (my real passion), etc. I still like my maxima but, it will never satisfy me like a sports car can. Hell, I just dropped about $2.5k in a new engine/suspension/brakes/clutch/etc which is more than the damn car is worth. I guess I must love it to be throwing money away like that.

i see no reason selling it, and i dont want to.... sort of sentimental too, alot of memories since its my 1st. Once i rebuild the engine this spring im gonna finish up most of the mods i want to do then thats probably it, ill be keeping this car as my daily driver for a long time, until it radioactively decays or something. Then new project car next summer

Shoot, I did a lot of work to mine. Had a lot of warranty work done and a lot of independant work done. By I guess I'm not very dedicated since it was sold over two years ago. But she's still here in my heart. Every time I see a 3rd gen SE I still realize how much I love those cars.

I was dedicated to every aspect of my max...until she started nickel and diming me this year. I'll continue to keep what i can looking good (exterior, interior) and fix what I can before I sell her for another, newer max. Her age finally caught up with her. All the stuff that hasn't been replaced is going out and I don't have the budget to fix it all (tranny work on the ALREADY rebuilt unit, shocks, struts, springs, brake resurfacing, temperature gauge sending unit).

im big time dedicated to it. i got some big plans for it in years to come, but for now, all i could do is minor stuff to keep the engine going. and i named it Rapa i think naming it shows the first sign to dedication and attachment. taking care of it comes in secondary.

(no, i dont have sex with my car, only narrowminded zit faced high school kids would think that.)

I am pretty dedicated to mine but I need to find out why it pings and hesitates. Already put 17's on it w/ cheap but nice looking tires. No VTC noise even at 130,000. Needs a front bumper cover and some rust work though. I wouldn't spend too many $$$ on it but when it gets running right maybe a few hundred in upgrades. I need to keep my sites set on a REAL sportscar. 300ZXTT

i am keeping mine until the wheels fall off, and when they do, i will put new ones on.

the money spent to replace broken items won't even compare to what a new car/payment will be. my 0.02

Seriously I've only got a few more things left to replace and its better than a brand new car.

Well, i've done some small modding and probably replaced everything in the engine bay cept for the 183xxx engine which is runs like a dream. Probably spent double about how much the car is worth to get it fixed but where i'm at now and how much I love my maxima, I would do it all over again in a heart beat. No questions asked.
