Car Broke Down!!!!fuel Pump????

AAAAHHHHH My max just broke down about 2hrs ago at a local electonics store. This is what happened. yesterday before class my car wouldnt start, it was turning over but wouldnt start so i figured it wasnt the starter, alternatur, or battery. so i assumed it might be a bad fuel filter i changed it that night and she started right up. OK so today everythings runnin fine then i get ready to leave the audio store and it started but it justs sputters followed by engine cluncking then stalls! I tried to start it numerous times with no avail. It was liike it wasnt getting any gas, im assuming its my fuel pump? or crap in the fuel tank? if you guys have any info on the problem please let me know cause i need my ride asap thanks oh yah if you know any other possibilities that could cause this let me know jake

have you checked your oil level?
Do you hear the fuel pump run before you start the car?

This exact same thing happen to me a few months ago. I've had my car since 1996 and it has started every single time I tunred the key and never stalled out on me. Except when I left the lights on overnight or ran the car on fumes thinking I could make it.

Anyways, one day I went to work and everything was fine. 10hrs later when I was leaving to go home the engine didn't start, crank but no start, WFT.

Lucky for me I installed a fuel pressure gauge under the hood several yrs back for this very same reason

If the engine never started at least I would know right away if it's fuel or ignition related.

When the engine didn't start and I saw no fuel pressure I immediately went to the fuel pump relay, damn the relay checked out good. Now I'm thinking my pump took a crap on me with no warning signs.

So I started pulling the back seat out in hopes of getting to the fuel pump before the parts store close. Upon my search I found out it wasn't the pump instead it was the fuel pump connector that took a crap.

Notice anything funny about this connector?

How about now

You can see my temp fix I did to get the engine running. Just by-pass the burnt wire.

I've since then pick up a spare fuel pump harness from the bone yard but I've yet to install the harness. What I found funny is that no one has ever had this kinda problem with their 3rd gen. Try to name one problem you're having that no other 3rd gen is having, I can't think of one. I know it's possible that my problem could be a one-of problem, I just found it hard to believe no one else ever had this problem. So check the connector before you spend your money on a pump.

Hey guys thanks for the help, after a long day i eventually got my car up and running; it was the fuel pump. The car had no fuel pressure at all and the pump was just making a clicking noise but wouldnt turn on. I had to change it in the Ultimate Electronics parking lot! And the funny thing was is that ive never changed the fuel pump or any fuel pump for that matter so we proceeded to drop the tank right there in the parking lot. We had it disassembled about 3/4 of the way and we saw the ACCESS PLATE DIRECTLY TO THE FUEL PUMP!!!!!!!!!!!! uuugggghhhh so we just assembled, swapped the pump and it started right up thanks

Haha, you should have asked on the org where you could access it. I changed my fuel pump in a parking space in my downtown. I was paranoid that a smoker was going to flick a used butt near my exposed gas tank and blow the car up, lol.
