Very Strong Odor

I have a strong odor of exhaust. This has been this way since last year when i got a custom y-pipe,stock cat, and a magnaflow muffler and a pop up filter. I took my car to meineke muffler to put the exhuast on. They installed the y-pipe,cat. They installed a pipe straight from the cat to the muffler and new manifold gaskets front and rear. I need to know what's causing this strong odor. It's worse in the hot months.

Thanks......

On a cold morning- hopefully, you'll still have one - start it up and take a flood lamp to the exhaust. You know how you can see the exhuast in the cold? Just look for that coming out of the joints. You may want someone to rev the engine a bit. Do you hear exhaust noise? If so, I'd look in the vicinity of where it is coming from.

Ok. I did take it to meineke to check for leaks and they told me that everything was fine. Do you think i need a be pipe with a resinator? or that doesn't have nothin to do with it? How about the fuel air mix.

Maybe you have a leaky exhaust stud? Meineke might not necessarily check them, as they are basically in the engine compartment.

I definitely look at the studs. Both of my manifolds had pulled away. Sucked...... Some of the studs had broken on their own. My max only has 88k on it, too. Seriously, when it is cold (car and air temp) take a look at it all. That's how I finally found my leaks. Also look for signs of exhaust soot.

Does the smell go away or increase if you have the outside air selected vs. recirculating the air?

The odor is there inside my car when i start my car. After a while it goes away but then the smell comes and goes. I took the car to them last year and told meineke to check the studs and they told me that it was fine. what i'm goin to do is check the from the front to the back and see. One more question, I upgraded my exhaust to 2.25. Now should i upgrade to 2.5 or can i stay where i'm at? And should i put a resinator on the mid pipe or should i get a b-pipe with or without a resinator? Thanks alot for the help
