Finally working on my Max again
Well, After looking at my Max just sitting around since September I've started to work on it again. I've got a few ??? for the collective here.
1. Last summer when I was still driving it, When I would accelerate from a light and then slow down to a stop for a turn, the car would stall out and then take a second to start up again. If it didn't stall it would get a really lumpy idle shooting from 500-1500 RPM. I'm thinking it's a TPS but I'm not too sure.
2. On my left front (as you sit in the car) strut top plate, Two of the bolts will torque down tight but the 3rd will just keep spinning tighter and tighter but never seem to torque up. The stud is not spinning because I marked the stud to see if that was happening and it wasn't. I'm thinking I just need to change it. Any thoughts? It's making a clunking from that side over sharp bumps.
3. Is the plastic piece that the cable for the sunroof attaches to allow for movement of the glass still available OEM?
Thanks,
Mike

1.. dunno
2. definitely replace that bolt. dunno if you can get them from the dealer without replacing the entire mount... If not, you can probably knock out the stud on it and replace it with another bolt & nut of that size.. it'll just be a pain when you mount the strut. you'll have to have a helper hold it from underneath while you tighten it from the top. (if you've got a welder, it's an easier fix..)
3. I don't think so. mine are both worn out also. last time I talked to someone about it, you had to buy the entire track assembly for about $300. OUCH!!!

Ouch on number 3. Maybe I'll just keep it as a tilt up sunroof for now. It's not all that important for me. BTW, It's a 94 VE 5 Speed. I bought and have been driving another car for a bit now but it's no fun to drive. (01 Mitsubishi Mirage)
