Headrest TV's: What's the biggest size that fits??

Hey Guys,

I'm looking to buy two headrest TV's soon and I was wondering what is the biggest size monitor that fits our headrests...I know 5.6" will fit, how about 6.5"...7" is probably impossible w/o modification.... Thanks

My first question is why?
$1000 in TVs in a $1500 car....

stick one in the dash, and you'll be able to see it from any seat in the car.

then what do you need them in the headrests for? spend the 1000 dollars on on something productive.

How about nitrous? Maybe start a turbo fund? Unless you already have those. Sorry but I am more into driving my car and making it faster than cosmetics. Headrest TV's do sound cool though!

I have a 5.6 in the rear passenger side for my daughter, and the picture is fine. For anyone else in the car I have a 7 in dash flip out, which seems to suit everyone fine. I agree with you on the more show than go, except those few times when it's fun to just blow people away.

I have a 7" custom installed in the dash. I think the 7" inch would fit in the headrests as well. You would have to make modifications, but wouldnt you have to do so anyway?

Ive got two 5.6" ones and they fit tight, I had to make the headrest bigger in some areas, it depends on what monitors you get though, some are smaller than others, and where did you guys pull $1000 from???

here are some pics of mine http://cardomain.com/id/xrrcd page 4 or 5 I think.

well Ive got audiovox and there deff. worth the money, you could also go with power acuostic ( farenhiet ), those are really the only two brands I deal with , clarion is also good too but really expensive.

to get good TVs, they're going to cost you at least $300 each... then by the time you have a signal source (DVD player, etc) the price will easily be $1000 just for that- let alone amps, speakers, and the other stuff required to put it in.

I wouldn't be caught dead putting audiovox or Power Acoustik in my car... They're like cheap knock-off rims and the cheapie home theatre stuff.. they take a good product, cheapen it for the masses, then market it as good equipment. a GOOD LCD display costs more than the whole thing you'd get in one of those brands- let alone the video tuner and other signal side of the equipment.

but then again, if it's good enough for you, then by all means drop it in and enjoy. I've installed too much cheap audio equipment in my life though- I'd rather do without for a while so I can spend more money on better equipment later than to install crappy components and hate myself in the morning.

How do you like the nitrous? I'm going to post a thread on it now because I'm thinking about it myself.

Ill give you that power acoustic isnt the top brand but audivox montiors are some of the best out there, sure you could find high price screens tht cost $1000 each if you wanted to but most people couldnt tell the diff. between them, for this kid its obvious he doesnt need $400 dollar screens.

Yeah, I was told that audiovox is like top of the line in car video. We all know about their cd players so we just assume that the tv's would be the same. But I've seen a few and they look great.

ok joel you got some bickering started here now. anyway if you are going to do this then DON'T GET CHEEP CRAP. get the pioneer ones and i will hook them up to the master unit although i'm going to have to go with the "IT'S A WASTE OF MONEY" if anything i'd say to get the pioneer tv tuner unit and just let it at that. the indash video is enough and it's hidden, the ones in the headrests are screeming steal me. buy parts for the air ride system or for the trani swap and quit worrying about more ricer crap

Thank you Mark for always setting me straight, lol...
I'm gonna keep lookin' for some good 5.6" screens...
Do you think the TV tuner is worth it?
I'll prolly get like News 8 and that will be it...
True the indash is nice and hidden...

Most likely it'll end up I'll get parts for the air ride system...

dont get a tv tuner most of the time youll be watching dvd's anyway. Despite what Matt says Id go with audiovox, my monitors work great and the picture is better than any other monitors Ive seen (except the newer in dash flip out ones from alpine and clarion)
