VG Hybrid Intake Pics + Writeup
I know a few of you guys have been interested in this procedure. Several people have done this before, but here's what I did:

Here's the hybrid part. Get a Short Ram Intake for a 1993 Honda Accord. Should Come with a Pop Charger. Get it from Procarparts.com eBay auction ($27 shipped).
I bought a MAF Adapter separately, the one in the pic is junk. Don't buy any MAF Adapters you're unsure of. I eventually purchased a MAF Adapter and Intake combo for a 93 Z32, from the same seller above on eBay ($20 or so shipped)

Removed the old tubing. Check out the new chrome version. Much better. Also removed a bunch of other junk, clamps, old air filter box, resonator tubging, etc...

Clean out your intake manifold. This cleared up an idle problem for me. You'll have to saw off a nipple on the new intake tubing so that you can reuse the existing sheath on the intake manifold. Reconnect existing hose tubing to new tubing (below). Later on, I just removed the old tubing (not pictured)

Your hybrid kit should contain some aluminum pieces that you can use to universally fab a mount from the MAF bolts to the body (not pictured) to improve stability.
Performance and overall fun is improved. Have fun, and I give credit to the dudes who did this first. I posted this since several people asked recently for this procedure, and products have changed slightly.

yeah because idk alot of companies that make a short ram for a 3rd gen. and me being in washington am to afraid to go full cai in fear of water.
if you guys scour the forums, you will find that the mitsubishi eclipse intake will also work. i went this route for two reasons: 1) i couldnt sleep at night with a honda intake on my car
and 2) everyone else was using the accord and i wanted a challenge.
although i got mine to fit, i had to do a little cutting. plus, the way i have my intake now, the accordian section is being stressed. i am starting to get hairline cracks in my accordian section.
take my advice, go with the honda, it looks like a better fit.
ps, da-max may be able to attest to this as well. he was the one who put me up to this!

db_skate it won't work becuase you'll be suckin in the hot engine air directly. Try this one It looks just like the first posts intake. It's a HAI. And for a CAI search for something like this CAI

can u guys w/ cai measure the intake so we wont cut 2 much off.also wats up w/ the coolant res. where did it go? im doing mines this weekend.hows the sound on this mod,i've heard other cars w/ cai and it sounds good when u tap the gas

AEM does bypass valves but they cost as much as the intake shipped. 50 plus shipping. So here is its link Click Here
OK the coolant reservoir shouldn't be in that way because if you look at the engine structure and its components everything sits behind the intake or in front it. Not is next to it or the intake fender. Hence the placement of the stock airbox.

I've heard of those, dont completely understand them (a second picture would help a ton).

What they do is that when water enters the intake it has to go through the bypass value in order to get into the engine. Once water touches the bypass valve it closes off the main pipe to the manifold and spits the water out. The engine is not breathing during the bypass process.
IMO That is even worse than getting a little H2O in your engine. A little water is not enough to blow an engine there has to be other factors played into this.

Fitment was just fine after I cut it. The part of the s-shaped pipe just before the MAF has to be cut in order for the end piping on the other side that goes into the wheelwell to fit properly. I didn't have to remove the headlight, but I did have to remove the battery & battery tray so I could put the template down and cut the hole out into the wheelwell. I used an electric jigsaw and a drill in order to cut the hole, then I didn't bother trying to sand the hole afterwards, I just used some wire loom to line the jagged hole.

...here's a photo of how much of the s-shaped pipe I had to cut off. I cut off about 2.5", but I'd suggest that you use your own judgement and your own measurements when you get yours. If you look at the picture above, you can see the s-shaped pipe with the blue coupler on it. That's the end that I had to cut from. (You could just about use the length of the coupler as a guide for how much to cut off that end of the pipe to make it fit properly). I'll leave it up to you, though. On the kit I got, one of the couplers had a smaller diameter on one end, so I had to cut that part too (about 1")..

...and here's a closeup shot of the wire loom I used to line the hole...

...and of course, the finished product! You can see that the couplers arent the same length, due to the cutting I had to do to the one on the RHS of the MAF...

Love this mod... Exhaust is next!!! Hope the photos help!!!

i have 2 vg;'s w/ abs and the coolant tank is on the drivers side it wont fit on the pass side because of the pump my 91 vg i had a few years ago didnt have abs and the coolant tank was on the pass side next to the wiper reservoir filler.
I had an issue that initially i thought was a blown head gasket, but it turned out that my ghetto intake that stuck down BELOW the car was sucking in so much water that the oil took on that "moisture in the oil" appearance (duh) even on dry days..when i suspected that it was my intake, I removed it, drove about 10 miles at highway speed, then drove around the road around the lake at the state park at about 20 mph, and came back home and haven't had an issue..not that this bit of info is gonna do anyone any good, but I haven't said anything here in a long time, so I felt that I needed to flap my jaws a bit..
