Craig B has some write ups on his site for light rewires

you can always hack up the stock air box, might make the car a little faster but mainly just makes it growl more

might want to look into putting a transmission cooler on it too

actually you can....

cut the silencer part off, its the box part on the mid pipe. Then take the little tube that goes into the fender, cut it about 1" from the end and put it in hole in the mid-pipe. you can also cut up the bottom part of the stock air box. I've done both to antonthegrey's VG.

there isnt any free lunches.

but then again, there IS the dollar menu....

check out ebay. cheap intake parts, strut bars, clear corners. they dont really make the car faster, but much more fun to drive. other than that, keep your car clean and shiny.

Yeah, but what would be the best to set it at when typically using 89 octane? Or rather, what do you set it at, and what kind of gas do you use?

I'm a VE so I use 93 octane without any adjustment to the timing. not gonna play with my timing until I replace my knock sensor.

Well that was Keelan (spipedong90) but his site didn't have to much maxima stuff aside from pictures and such, IIRC.

Honestly, a hacked up air box is good for a little growl, but zero gain in hp. Just save up some money and buy a pop charger. They aren't that much. You are still going to be restricted by your paper panel filter. And, if you are going to spend the money on a K&N panel filter, you may as well buy a cone, because you are 90 percent of the way to a pop charger.

I know everyone doesn't have a couple of grr to spend on mods, but you can at least save up $50 (or less) for a pop charger.

i pulled the big ***** pice from the air box and removed my filter since the mass air has screens to protect it any how. doing so woke the car up a lil bit i figured the intake is smooth as it is no need to replace it and removing the filter helped it brath alot more

unfortunately the air filter doesnt just filter out rocks and pine needles, but it also filters out dust/sand/etc.
You will see better gains on a cold day than you will driving your car with out an air filter.

And these engines aren't Dodge 318's, they cant hold up to that kind of abuse that well.

Pop charger = take off the stock air box, add a maf adapter and cone filter. JWT/Stillen coined the name with their velocity stack/MAF adapter/filter all in one intake.

Basically it looks like this but with the red mid-pipe being stock:

Here is Red92MaximaSE's cardomain, look about 1/2 way down the page for a better idea of what he's talking about
