Interchangable 5 speed?

Does anyone know if a 5 speed from a VE30DE twin cam, will bolt right up to a VG30E single cam. My car is a 91, and I want to replace the trans with a 5 speed from a 94. Any help is appreciated.

yes it will bolt up to the VG but you have to get the axles and spindles from a VE also for it work

Thats something I have wondered also. If someone did this swap would they need a flywheel off a VG 5 speed or off a VE, or is there a difference?

Subs1000w is correct, you need the spindles and axles. You will also need to adapt the different speed sensor harnesses (only a few wires). A very worth while swap IMO.

ntjoe- yes you need the VE flywheel.

NOOOOOOOO NO NO NO! You do not use the VE flywheel. It is impossiable.

Oh um difference, VE has 8 bolts holding it to the crank, VG has 6.

IIRC you can reuse the passenger axle but you'll need a new drivers axle. spindles dont need to be touched.

So the VG 5spd flywheel is what you have to use for the VE tranny?

Nope, both auto axles work and don't need to be changed out. Everything bolts right up with no modification or "swapping" necessary. Just make sure you get ALL the manual tranny mounts (those ARE different) from the junkyard! I didn't realize they left one out when I got my stuff and ended up having to buy a new one from the dealer.

As far as the VE gearbox swapped onto the Vg, from what I understand you need the VE spindles and axles but other than that it all just bolts up. However, I'm not completely sure whether the VE/VG tranny mounts are different. I'd do this swap if I could find a decent gearbox. Open diff sucks!
