HELP! ve30de water pump removal
#1
So I've removed the water pump from the engine but now can't get it out of the engine compartment.
tried up down left right. moved the compressor hose out of the way. don't tell me I need to remove the main pulley to drop it down the bottom.
boy was I pissed, what the f**
I know the main pully is torqued to 130. Not exactly easy to remove.
If this is so difficult to remove, imagine trying to put it back into place with a fresh silicone bead along the seal.
Has anyone out there done this repair?
Please help
I started sping break this week. my next project this week is installing Eibach/tokico suspension

Hey, I was going to do mine, But after looking at all the stuff I had to breakdown. I said screw that and the Nissan dealer in North Alabama( Quad City Nissan) and Mossy Nissan in San Diego where I had mines done ran me around $350 , and if you take it to the dealer they change the timing belt also(Included ).

I finally got it in
needed to remove the alternator, move the compressor out of the way then remove the mounting bracket. now that I've done it once it wont be such a big deal the second time. big pain in the *** figuring out how to manipulate the pump the get it in and out of the engine compartment.
also replaced:
front crank oil seal (had to borrow a friends impact wrench)
thermostate
02 sensor

yo eric....
how much did the water pump cost ya? i've had a bad water pump for a while now, and i guess its time to get in there and get this crap out of the way. i'm tired of worrying about overheating.

basically....your coolant will be leaking out of it. for example mine is really screwed: i have to fill up with coolant about once a week. you'll have puddles on the ground under the water pump, and your car will be running hot. so unless your leaking coolant pretty bad then your water pump is probably still good.

Yeah, the VE20DE engine is a pain to remove the water pump. I've replaced my water pump several months ago. You do have to remove all the belts, but I didn't have to remove the alternator. I just fiddled with the pump and angled it ever which way to remove it. My new pump cost $75 and it came with a gasket included. It was made in Japan also and it works great.

I got the water pump from courtesy niss $75
If I bought it locally it would have been $115
I also picked up the 02 sensor at the same time for $103
if I got it from a local dealer it would have been aroun $140
courtesy niss rocks, big savings,, and not to mention sales tax!
