fuel pump

I had a little problem with my fuel pump, the fuse kept blowing, and the motor wasn't getting fuel. So after removing the seats, we found that the housing for the fuel pump is completely corroded. We fiddled some wires around, and got the fuel pump to start working, but then it blew a fuse and one of the wires caught on fire. So we removed the entire assembly, and one of the wires is really loose(the one that caught on fire), and i wanted to know if i was able to buy just the housing for it, and not have to buy the fuel pump which works, and where to buy it, and how much it would cost.

thank you

Yes, all very good questions because I looked at mine and it is very rusty too. You started a fire in yours? Kind of dangerous playing with the fuel tank wires when the battery is plugged in. Anyway, I hope someone responds to this because I think that I will replace mine while I am down there. Let me know if you find out how much the sending unit costs. Thanks

Hey thanks. I hope things work out for you on this. Mine might not be giving me any problems but if the part is cheap then I might as well replace it while I have the seats out. Aren't they a pain to take out? I felt like I had to almost break them to get them off.

If the plug itself is corroded and burnt make sure you replace the plug also . This will cause the new sending unit to go bad very quickly .

ouch, that's alot of money for me to spend for something I'm not sure I need. I think I'll wait for my fuel pressure gauge and see if everything is working okay before I replace anything. Thanks for the info.
