Premium or not?
I would definitely use premium because I believe that our cars are tuned for premium fuel. If you don't use it I hear that it can wear down on the sensors and you will spend more money and time replacing stuff in the future because of it, than you would spend on the premium gas. I just use it and don't think twice about it. It's not THAT much more expensive and supposedly you get a little better performance and gas mileage. Hope this helps.
I think you should be ok running 89, but you will lose performance. If you can afford the premium, then by all means fill it with that. You will get a little more power out of the car, and besides, the manual recommends it.

What exactly is the "good High output engine"? Does it say High output anywhere on it?
I have a VG and w/ 87 it knocks on frisco hills on cold days.89 knocks on hot days when the car is over work on stop and go and then hitting hills.on 91 I can actually start a hill and speed mid way up, while on 89 it just makes more engine noise.
uh...91 baby
uh...91 baby
93...its the only way to go. i even put 95 in it once, but never saw it at a gas station in my town. think about it, it only comes to a few bucks per fill if you use 93 instead of 91. i always get the highest octane the pump has to offer.
you are lucky when i tried to use 89 my engine knocked, i use sunoco ultra 93 in new york, in others states it's ultra94 i pay more for the gas, but it is worth it, also when use 89 it depends on what gas staion you go to, you should try exxon/mobil, imo bp/amoco gas is crap
