could it be the fuel injector?

Yesterday I noticed the car was running rough. When I press the gas I would get
a vibration. I left the car running and unplugged each ignition coil to check if the idle would drop. All did except for one, the one next to the crank angle sensor. I checked the coils resistance and it read to be approx. 3 ohms, I checked the others and they all measured the same. I interchanged the coils and got the same result the idle did not drop when I unplugged the coil. I just put in new NGK plugs in , I don't think it is the plug. I spoke with my mechanic and he said it could be a bad injector, if not the injector a bad computer. Is that right? How much do an injector run for? Is there any way to test it? Thanks guys.

You can test it with an OHM meter like you tested the coil. I can't remember where the crank angle sensor is so I don't know if it is a front or rear injector, but just measure the ohm's on the suspected injector by unplugging the harness and putting your leads directly on the injector. It should be between 10-14. If the injector is on the rear bank, you can check it without taking off the intake plenum, just PM me or put a request on this post and I'll explain it.

BTW, an injector will cost like $80-100 depending on where you buy it, or if you buy a new one. I think a member called "internetautomart" sells them but I don't know what he charges.

thanks for the info, Its on the front bank. so if your stand infront of the car,
it's the at the bottom right corner. Do i have to take off the intake plenum
to get to it. I checked chilton's, and it said that i have to take it off plus the fuel rail.

here's the strange thing, now the injector is working!!! it died and came back to life. sometimes I think my car has a soul or something. Even the the resistance reads at around 20-25 ohms.

How do you know that it came back to life? Was the resistance more than 20-25 ohms before? Even if it still is that much, that means that it is on its way out. It should be between 10-14 to be within spec. If it's working now, I guess you could just keep driving until there is more of a problem with it. Mine kind of did the same thing, when I would let out the clutch at too low of an rpm it would start vibrating like it was missing on one cylinder. I then checked it and it was at like 35 ohms, but ran okay most of the time.

I'll check the other injector's resistance to see what they measure. I'll keep an I on it and gas mileage too to see if it gives more problems, but no joke the thing just started working again. Have you checked out taylorautomotive.com? They have injector's for my 92 Se for $82, Bosch. Is Bosch the original injector used in my max?
