Doors that Aren't open, but Max thinks they are!

Hi again, another quick question. Once about 6 months ago I had a big big big electrical short in the Max (it got jumped a la reverse) and since then I have been having little electronic demons in my car. The biggest problem is that the Max thinks that there is a door open all the time on it (ie, the light is always on on the dash that shows the doors ajar) even when the doors are all closed. It is not the sensors on the door because I checked every one of them, and the lights dim a little when all the doors are closed so I can tell that the switches are not broken. I called the dealership and they said it was probably the timer for the lights that got fried (or something) or a relay for it. Is the only place to get the Nissan relays the nissan dealership? Also, any ideas on where this 'timer' might be so I can look at it and check to see if it is faulty? It is really annoying to not have the electron/bat fuse in, because that means no code, no power seatbelts, no clock, and worst of all no radio!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

the door lock timer is directly below the steering column under the dash. I don't know if that's the same one or not.

You can get these parts from a junkyard for pretty cheap. $10-12 as opposed to $60-80 from a dealer.
good luck.
