CAI Owners?

Is there a considerable performance difference between a K&N cone filter, and the Autozone/ebay cheap ones?

Nope. Both filters share the same basic design so differences are negligible.

What he said.

One thing to add however. Some of the REALLY cheap cone filters literally have screen door material covering the end of the filter. You want to check it first and make sure there's either a cap on the end, or an inverted cone with the standard filter material.

some brands use cheap "glue" that will melt and the filter will fall apart, other cheap brands use a cheap metal screen around the filter material that will rust.. K&N is stupidly expencive..but their products are quality, and u can wash them and re-use them.. i wouldnt try that with any other filter

Yeah, my cheap filter did just that, started to rust and the inverted cone part fell off the glue...Damn 3A racing..don't know how long I was sucking filterless.

I'd personally stick with K&N. Good company, and you can wash and reuse their filters.

I had a K&n air filter ordered from AJUSA but it was the wrong size. I got the wrong mounting depth. But I could just tell it was better quality then my Autozone filter that I need to change badly. So I am going to reorder it and plus it is free shipping.

hate to tell ya but your not gettin 4 horse from a pop charger, think about it cooler air builds horsepower, cooler air is more dense therefore more air particales are crammed into the chamber, the pop charger is sucking HOT air from the motor so if anything you gained a nice growl but diddnt help horsepower any hence the reason for a real CAI.
