need help changing cv shafts
I have a 91 SE Auto. I need to replace both the cv shafts. I started last Saturday by trying to pull out the driver's side one out first. I pulled the steering knuckle off the shaft and what not to get access to it. I pulled and pryed on it for hours, but it wouldn't budge. Not a drop of fluid came out either. I purchased a "Chilton" manual to see if there was something I was missing. It started with the passanger side and then pullling the driver's side out. I pulled the passanger side out very easily. I then pryed on the driver's side again, but no luck. I had now spent all Saturday on it and was getting pretty frustated. I even tapped on the shaft through the transmission with a screwdriver. It was getting late so I put a new shaft in the passanger side anf put everthing back together. Can someone help me?!?!?!?

How in the world were you able to take off the passenger side? Last time I'd tinkled around with it while I was doing the wheel bearing....I'd tried to pulled the axles out to see how it were. Though mines don't really had that much problems, I'd just to like to pick on a challenge that's all. Damn it. Either sides moved. I'd though you gotta pry out the driver (smaller axle stick) out first then unscrew the 3 screws on the passenger side, then tap it out thru the tranny with a punch and hammer. I'd tried to pry that damn thing (driver side) off but the snap ring on it is really holding that sucker down tight. There were no places on the axle that lets you use a puller on it either. So, I tried the passenger side instead......argggh, after I uncrewed the 3 bolts. I couldn't pull it at all, again there were nothing on the passenger side where you could attach a puller to it and pull. Great. It looks like it the rust seized it in. Lucky me, none of my boots were ripped. I'd just like to pick a challenge but boy both sides made a fool out of me.
If you got a digital camera and was able to get them off, you might wanna take pictures and show the rest of us how to do it.
I think my problem was, I didn't have a crow bar that was big enough.....so, if I were you I would try to get a set of bigger bars. I wasn't really prepared at that point since it wasn't one of my main intended project. I'd just felt like being a jerk with nothing better to do. I was down there doing wheel bearing, heck might as well.
