fuel management??
fuel management??
i can get my hands on a apex-i SAFC piggy back fuel management system for cheap"er". and my question is if they are worth it. and how much i can expect from this concidering i have a bunch of mods and a bunch more to go including nos , cams etc. is it worth the $$$?
with an AFC on an N/A car the best we got out of my buddys 4th gen(full bolt-ons) was ~12hp/27tq(not sure if that was SAE) after 3 pulls on the dyno and some quick BS estimating off the afr info on the dyno...not bad, but IMO not worth spending $$$ on an AFC for a simple street car with bolt-ons, maybe if you had the cams and nitrous, but as far as bolt-ons its not worth it. save up for a JWT ECU and take advantage of the fuel and ignition alterations rather than just tuning fuel.
they definitely work and i'm sure if you had a wide band o2 sensor or lots of dyno time you can get it tuned really well. i might be getting the wide band o2 sensor soon so i can tune mine a bit better with the s-afc but until then its really hard to do. if you go the jwt route be sure to get all of the mods you want first that way they can tune it for those mods and you won't have to pay to get it retuned.
yeah more dyno time would have been a plus when we did his car, but even when a shop did Max O/Ds car(VG30E) with the cams and AFC the most that came out of it was ~10-12hp(and this was professionally done, not by me)...although in combination with the MSD I'm sure there were few extra ponies pulled out...I dunno I'd love to see a comparison of the AFC+MSD(w/ timing set at 17*) compared to a straight up JWT tuned ECU....I think the JWT will come out on top simply because of the added the ignition tuning being across the board not just a set advance
thx for the info. right now i have a jet performance chip @ the moment and when i run nos im not sure if ill be able to keep my chip. but in a month ill have about 2grand to sink the motor so im just trying to figure out what im going to do with it.

) on the JET chip won't go well with the juice. too much advance + nitrous = BOOM!
