difference between VE and VG

hey guys, ive been around for a little while now but im still learning about my own car every day. like they say, "you live a century, you learn a century". anyway, ive got a 1990 maxima gxe with a se's rear style, because its been previously in a major accident. the VG30E engine is fine tho, but i need to know what the main difference is between VG's and VE's. and what are the main engine differences between 1990s and 1992-3's. please let me know, so i know what power im driving, or if i can easily say i can beat the 'ish out of v-tecs.

thanks

vg30e - sohc
160 hp - 182 ft lbs of torque
same engine used in the z31 300z
came in 89-91 se and 89-94 gxe

ve30de - dohc, variable timing
190 hp - 190 ft lbs of torque
only came in 92-94 se

that is just basic stuff...there is probably alot more indepth info on the org if you search...you should be able to beat most hondas with your vg

will

Both cars have their mufflers on straight.

Not all VE's tick
Some VG's tick

VG's go weeeeee
VE's go WEEEEEEEEEEE
Addae's car goes fart

VE's have Variable Valve Timing, Coil over Plug Ingition, 24 valve dual over head cam, timing chain, stronger transmission, limited slip, other stuff

VG's have distributors, 12 valve single over head cam, timing belt.

So what would be a good car to compare ours to then? I know stock hondas can't put up much of a fight, but neither can modded hondas, but they are kind of fun to beat , not that I would ever break any speed limit or anything
