Getting a car?

Sorry I didnt know what to name this thread...so theres this Gold GXE Maxima that has been sitting in this parking lot by my house for as long as I can remember...Last night I went by it and realized it was unlocked and had a black leather interior, I was wondering If it was possible to call someone about gettin this car? Maybe it's owner is dead or the car is dead and it was just left there...could I call the courthouse or something

So you're saying I can just tow it and claim it as mine?
It's not an empty lot, its a grocery store parking lot...and its in the far end(away from the store) and its been there a grip, and who is a marshall? like court marshall or what

Waterloo...i might have to drive up there and strip it myself...haha...I think the best thing you could probably do is just call the police station... see what the laws are on abandond vehicles and what you could do to claim it, and if theres plates on the car, maybe give them the plate # and they could contact the owner for you.

I doubt if the cops will contact the owner for you. If you call them, the cops will sticker it and then it will be towed to an impound lot.

The police send a letter saying it was towed on what date and what location to the address listed on the registration. Then, the impound lot will send a letter to the same address telling them they owe $XXX for towing and storage and $XX for storage each additional day. IF the car isn't claimed in that time, it becomes property of the tow/impound company and they will usually auction it off unless the owner wants to keep it for himself or someone he knows wants it.

My dad (who was a police detective) has a friend that owns a tow/impound company. The owner has some pretty cool cars that went unclaimed.
