Drop resistor mod on 3rd gen?

I know this is probably a newbie question, I looked thru the FAQ's and even used the poor man's search feature but couldnt find anything in relation to a 3rd gen drop resistor. Does the 3rd Gen cars have one? If so where are they located? I have looked everywhere but cant find anything that fits the picture of the resistor in JIMES (sp?) post a while back.

Thanks! Joe

If you do the mod, be ready to buy a new tranny. in a month. that's all I'm going to say about it...

Well, the tranny already slips in O/D and when you drive it too hard....it pretty much fits the description of a bad tranny in the FAQ's. I was just wanting to try it out and see if it helped extend it anymore...I'm cheap...don't want to buy a new one yet.

What causes the tranny to die if you do the mod? I dont think I'll do it now, but you've got me curious.

Thanks! Joe

I just remember him saying that it increases the line pressure too much and that shortly after he did it his tranny was throwing codes and stuff.

if the clutches are slipping already, this will finish them off in no time.

the drop resistor causes the tranny to be at full line pressure all the time- driving and shifting. it snaps the clutches into place and is VERY hard on them. hard enough that it caused my otherwise good tranny to start flashing codes at me within a week of doing the mod on my car.
