Cavvy and Probe eat some dust
#1
On the way to work today, I was already 10 mins late. Stuck in traffic, of course. I look in the rear view, a G-Thug in his late model, non-Z24 Cavalier. I can see hes gettin anxious to get going, so I figure once we get into the open road, he's going to let loose. We finally get into the open and change lanes into the fast lane. I shift into 3rd when a Taurus cuts me off, I break then change back into the original lane. Whoops, cut off the Cavvy. Hes right on my tail. Instead of down shifting into 2nd, like i should have, I lay on it in 3rd. Im at about 1750RPMs and hes stayin on my bumper. Geez...the VG cant wind up any faster. RPMs rising slowly. I hit about 2500RPMs and Im gone. Whered Mr. G-Thug go? I think i see him in my rear view. I bet he didnt see that coming.
On the way home...a late model Probe jumping a green light on me. I let him accelerate away. He keeps on it. Then i decide to put him in his place. i downshift and catch up quickly. I get ahead and stay ahead for awhile. Im in the middle lane, hes in the right lane...which is closing. I see him start gaining on me fairly quickly. I dont even bother downshifting into 4th. I get on it in 5th and by the time he gets to my back bumper its too late.
I know these arent great kills, but i take what i can get. Every time i race, my maxima impresses me even more. Its so much quicker than my old Z26. Im also pretty impressed with the available power in 5th gear. I rarely downshift to pass anymore.

1995 Chevrolet Beretta Z26 with the 3100 (155hp and 185tq) with a 4spd auto (4T60-E). I took it to the track, ran a 17.1 with a horrible start (first time i ever went there). I also ran again, i messed up the start, my time was all messed up, but i had a higher trap speed. I think it would run about 16.9 or 16.8. It had good highway power, but it wasnt that quick off the line.
The car was a 'looker'. Bright red, factory GFX, no ricer could turn down.

Well...Ill give you a pecking order, so to speak of Berettas.
GTZ's were pretty much the faster of the berettas, assuming it has the Quad 4/5spd combo.
Z26s were next fastest with 3100/4spd auto.
The rest were simalirly fast.
GTU's were pretty rare cars. They were made only in '90, i think. They were a tribute to the GTU races (Gran Tourismo Under (3.0liters)) They came with the 2.8L with either 3spd auto or 5spd.
If you see a Beretta Indy...consider yourself lucky i guess. Those are the rarest of the rare. Especially a yellow one.
Ive got all kinds of this Beretta info floating around in my head.

Just funny becaues your user name is nodoubt...and I said No doubt in my thread.
I have a dumb sense of humor sometimes.
I'll agree that theyre very comparable and good competion for the VG.

On my way to work today I get behind this grand prix and next to it was a convertible cavvy and it tried racing it of the line and then when the pontiac took a right me and the cav were side to side at a red light and the two lanes turn it to one. I was not letting him in front of me. This was my first race so I started of pretty slow at 1800RPMs and thinking o **** hes going to beat me but he stay even intill 2500+ then then buy the time I hit second I got in front of him and in third he was way back and I looked down I was doing 80mph and was like oops hoping no cops were around.
