I have a problem which is driving me nuts. Sometimes, especially when the engine is cold and the weather is also cold, the motor will pull right up to about 5000 RPM without a hitch. More usually, though, there is a "stepped" type of accelleration, even if the throttle is completely buried. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what may be the problem?

Thanks in advance.

BJ, I've been having an almost similar problem. At one point, this guy near here told me that my cat was clogged, so I got it pulled and put a straight pipe in there until I can get another one. That made the acceleration a LOT better on the upper end, but lower end sucks right now. I'm willing to think that I need a good tune up, too. So, you might want to check either the cat for restrictions, the O2 sensor, or possibly get a tuneup.
