Spoiler Lift Question

I know this was a huge subject a while ago but since I cannot search...does anyone have any advice on fixing the spoiler lift? It's lifting on both sides now..it's almost about to come off. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I think there is some adhesive stuff like that they use ont gluing windows in place...would work...

Get a GXE trunklid...thats another solution....

If you dont mind it looking bad you could drill a bolt thru it, i have seen that done....poor maxima....

Have i seen you around Boston b4? where abouts are you from?

Hi man, I had the same problem with my spoiler. They lift on the ends because the holes that are drilled into the spoiler that hold it down, rot out. So I don't think any kind of glue will help you. Do what I did, buy a new one! I bought mine on e-bay for $100. plus shipping, it's made of fiberglas and looks exactly like the factory one. I had mine painted and mounted and it looks great. So check out e-bay. All the 3rd Gen Maxs have the same problem eventually.
Good luck
Jeff

Yeah, that's a very common problem. I have it too. But from what I've heard, windshield adhesive DOES work quite well. But you will have to apply it really, really well. Take the spoiler off, remove the rotted out studs, and clean the entire area very well with alcohol. Then use the hot glue gun body shops use and apply the adhesive. You will of course have to clamp the spoiler down very well to allow it to stick.

That is what my trusted body guy told me when I went to get an estimate. He was asking for $150, but I am sure he would do it for $120 or so when I am ready for it.

im from the boston area. my spoiler lifted on both sides as well. when i took it off 2 huge rust holes came with it. so i ripped the rest of it off and fiberglassed all the holes including the bolt holes. (cool perk of working in a sterio shop) and heres the worst part, we got a really good deal on some APC wings so of course i put one on. so if your in the boston area you will know its me cause i am the only retard to have a white 90 max se with a big black aluminum wing. but ill tell you this, with the wing on im a bit less squirly on the highway doing 130+mph

if i get a chance ill post a pic sometime so you can get a quick giggle out of it. i like it and all but i think its still funny that we originally bought it for my boss's mothers honda

Thanks!

Thanks for all the help. For all you Boston kids I live in Southie. Dorchester really. I only drive around locally and sometimes around the Fenway...unless I'm getting pulled over on Rt. 24...hah. I think I'm going to put my car up on soundomain. The web service I use always closes my account! Yarg. I've never seen a max with a huge spoiler but if the deal is really good I might want one too. Post some pics!

i just took mine off and experimented with bondo. pretty tough.
i could have bought a gxe trunklid, i thought about it, but.. that costs money, and since i had a tub of bondo and no life in which to utilize otherwise, i figured "what the hell.." and did it.

it looks pretty good...

.
from 10 feet away or so...
then it's lumpy, but this is my beater, so...
