How much for axle replacement?

What is a good price for a passenger side axle and it's installation?

Whatever the lowest price you get from your local mechanics. Call 2-3 places and see. I figure maybe $200-$250. For the axle/new tranny fluid/new tranny seal and labor. But again, since you are limited to the area you can actually get this work done, you will pay what the local market dictates you pay. Unless you can do it yourself.

Lube and brake places often have specials where they'll do it for $150 -- I'd check both out to see if they're running one of these deals. Autozone sells reman axles for $60 (in colorado) w/a lifetime warranty.

Autozone also sells Brand New Axles, $115 for driver and $150 for passenger side.

The best ways to know how much is the service fee, just call up several places in the yellow pages and ask. I would go with those upfront fee than by hours.

I had both axles replaced on my Honda Prelude and one on my Maxima. With exchange for the core and installation it usually runs between $115 and $160. There is no reason for it to be more than $160 because with core exchange the part is cheap and it only takes an hour to an hour and a half.

FYI...

Although I don't necessarily like them, I got my front passenger side axle replaced at Pep Boys in Harbor City. Took them a couple of hours, but it only cost me $160 complete with the lifetime warranty on the part.
