VG's have no problems. Just maintain it well.

Common problems throughout the car though include a disappearing/fading clock due to bad solder connections, and power window regulators breaking.

In addition to what may be in the FAQ, mine had

- one window motor failure
- antenna motor failure

Still has
- driver's side door & trunk lock mechanisms broken (I use touchpad, passenger's side door if needed)
- stock radio display broken (everything else works on the radio/cass.)
- worn shifter bushing (need to tap on the gear shifter to start engine)

Other than that, the car's been very reliable, easily one of the least problematic cars I've ever owned.

yeh, injectors went at !50k, trans at 143k, trunk lock has never worked in the time I've had it, window regulators are on last leg, clock started dimming, and turning on 1/2 the time, have to push that little thing in front of the shifter to get it out of park, gas light is broke, VC boots(all 4) tore, front suspension bad... but most of this happened before I got the car (at 143k). Stupid trans stopped a week after I bought the car.. $2900 when the car was worth $3200, then dropped $2100 in it for new tranny..

"ALMOST alot of problems"? I would go with the VG verses the VE if I was looking for reliability alone, but if you're in it for reliability, go get a Honda Accord. The VE's do have some issues, but I can't say that they take much away from the overall reliability and fun of the motor. The problems I've had with my VE have been frustrating, but they can be repaired if you have a little mechanical knowledge and do your research. I'd have to say that ALL the frustration goes away when you get to drive the car.

BTW, I would consider 30 less horsepower and a little less torque a HUGE problem.

Hi,

i have one of the vg engine,

the car seems fun to drive and it is ok,

my be a little problem but i can deal with it,

i know the t-belt might need to be replace and the water pump and the tensioner but everything else seems ok,

iam going to not switch over to a honda because i like quick and fastness in a car so honda would not be good for me but a max would be good for me,

honda are a good reliable car but i don't like the inside of the car,

there little room for your leg's and the max fit me just right,

the honda accord seems a little bit slow then a max,

so no honda accord for me,

max all the way

Yeah, I wouldn't seriously tell you to get an Accord. The max is a very reliable and sufficiently powerful car that you will probably be happy with for a long time. Just do the proper maintenance and I'm sure you will be happy with it, don't get me wrong by the above post, I DO like VG's, just not as much as VE's.

Depends on WHICH Accord. The ones with the V6 are faster than a VG max

Injectors are a problem on Vg's. They are ~170cc so they'd be running at a high duty cycle most of the time. From what I remember, injectors running at 80%+ duty cycle all the time wear out quick. Well, put on some mods on a Vg maxima and you are pretty close to that!

exactly

VG30E stands for "Very Good 3.0 Engine"

on window regulators, exhaust studs, timing belt, slow-shifting tranny(AT). I've noticed some lousy electrical work, but nothing to the point where your car won't keep running fine.
