Sprint springs with stock struts...
#1
I went through all of my max's records and I found that after 132,000 miles, the struts have never been replaced. How long are they supposed to last? Anyways I was wondering how long everyone thought a GXE would last with sprint springs and 7 year old struts with 132,000 miles on them?

I ordered sprints and I was going to mount them on the stock struts but no matter what you're gonna have to replace the struts anyway so might as well spend the extra money and do it the right way....who knows spending that extra money now might save you even more money in the long run. Well I decided to get some tokicos and I'm not going to mount a damn thing until they get here

You may take my opinion with a grain of salt because I don't have susp. on my car right now, but I think that the sprint springs woulnd not wear out your struts any faster than your regular springs because sprint springs are pretty soft. If you were to put eibachs on your car, the shocks couldn't handle the spring and they would burn out, but I think that sprints are just to lower your car. If you have the money I would prob replace the struts but I don't think that sprint springs would all of a sudden 'kill' your shocks.

Stock struts are worn out by 60k miles. The stocks are made by Tokio (black). Aftermarket struts all have higher dampening rates than the stok ones to compensate for wear in the suspension. KYB makes the GR2 for the 3rd gen Maxes, they work very well and are stiffer than the stock ones. Probably the only strut that won't wear out in more than 30k miles, with aftermaker springs, is Koni. Struts wear out so gradually that you usually don't notice it until they are completly shot.
