BMW headlights on a 3rd Gen
BMW headlights on a 3rd Gen
Hey,
I've been considering doing the BMW headlight conversion on my '91 SE, but I can't find any sites showing how to do this.
I had 2 links, the same 2 found on Craig Brace's Maxima page. One is a Geocities link for SkyMaxSE, and the other is Annulardesign.com. The Geocities link is gone, and the other is now a **** site. A Google search turned up nothing.
Does anyone have a link for this conversion? One of my headlights is cracked, and I figured if I have to replace one, I might as well do this conversion. I think it looks awesome.
Thanks,
Bill G

Bill,
Sorry about the dead links. I've been meaning to fix those but never get around to it. I'll do it right now before I forget again. That annulardesign is run by some guy that used to have a maxima and copied everyone else and took credit for stuff and also ripped a lot of people off. I didn't realize he'd changed it to ****. Good guy though.
Here is Skymax's new link:

Thanks rey and Craig,
Both sites look good. SkyMax has some nice pics. The other has a nice list of parts and tools.
I copied the files down to my machine so I won't lose them again. Don't worry, they'll stay there.
My car has lots of miles, and needs several repairs ahead of this upgrade, so it may be later this summer when I've got more 'fun' money.
And Craig, sorry about the Jackets. A great season. I wanted them to win.
What I need:
A/C Compressor - noise like a cheese grater used on a cat. Still works tho.
Window Reg unit - right rear
Window/Lock control unit - driver's door
Head unit/speakers - I have 1 working Bose speaker, and it's amp is fried.
Fog lights - The originals broke, so I just removed the frames completely.
Locks-driver's door and trunk - key needs some jimmying to get them to turn, and remote from inside doesn't open trunk.

since i dont even own a maxima anymore, does anyone want my www.geocities.com/bmwconversion page? i cant update it as much as i like and it was made with a very simple program. i can give all info to whoever wants it. email me at dnas420@hotmail.com
Hey awsm66, how's you get those BMW lights flush like that? Everything I've read is that they will be inset just a little bit. Yours look great.
How long did it take you to do the install? SkyMax says 5-10 hours.
BTW, Courtesy doesn't have fog lights for my car. They've been slowly taking 3rd Gen parts off their web-site over the last year or two.
And dnas, I'd be happy to take your web info. You've got some nice things on that site. I won't be hosting it on Geocities, but I'd love to see the info you've put together stay available online.
You've got my e-mail.

Thanks, Check the FAQs on my cardomain site.
Call courtesy and ask for Kaleb. They have them even though they dont show them on their site. You dont want the whole fog light unless the black plastic is broken. If you want just the lens (with reflector...see pic) then its only about $25 or so a piece...the part number can be seen on the box in the pic. If you replace one you might as well replace both because the new one will be so much more shiny and better looking.
