Exhaust help

I live in California with all of the emission *****. So, my question is could I legally put on a high flow Y-pipe? Aren't my other catalytic converters in my stock Y-pipe?

It doesn't matter which down pipes you got there. what's really matter is the cat converter cuz its job is to reduce the number of NOx and carbon dioxide craps that Cali is allowed you to dump into the environment. If your car is over 8 years old and has more than 80K and if you're still running on the stock cat. Then replace that bad boy. Magnaflow universal cat converter 94006 with 2.5" in and out is what WSP sells and they told me most of their Cali customers has never responded with any complaints at all. However, if you wanted to be dead safe, then get the Magnaflow w/Cali Emission II no 43006
http://www.car-sound.com/universal/430.htm
I think it fits cuz I had 94006 on mine and by looking at the diagram, its length and inlet/outlet diameter were equated. Even if it doesn't fits, you could always bring it to the shop and have those wrench monkeys weld it together to your catback/down pipe.

I wished I had known Magnaflow makes cali emission specific cat, I've would had looked for it. I didn't know WSP sells Magnaflow, I'd thought they make their own the whole time. Too late now since I've already got everything installed.

Wow, thanks. So you're saying that by installing a magnaflow it wouldn't be any worse than keeping on my old stock cat? (for my smog check, I mean)

huh NO. Your stock cat is probably all rotten by now, the only way to tell is to take it off and see if the substrates inside the cat were still in tact (they look like a set of matrix). Then shake it, if you see a lot of craps coming out or nothing were inside, you'll know it's gone. I am sure it's all gone by now cuz mine were.

Just get the Magnaflow cat converter with Cali emission, call them up and have a conversation with them for more info. Since they're cali certified, then you shouldn't have any problems with passing the test. If they asked you any questions in regards to the inlet and outlet size, tell them it's 2.5" in diameter, and they're flange-bolt-on type. You could also tell them to crossover with the 94006 cuz that's the one that fits our car.

While chances are you won't have problems passing the test as long as you have a cat,
You are in california, and if they want they CAN fail you for having a non-stock replacement part that doesn't have a CARB EO # assigned to it.
