Sure.. this sounds good for a while.. until you:
1. snap your throttle cable and you car won't go anywhere.
2. ruin your throttle body from putting too much stress on internal parts.

There is a point to be made here, although I am not sure it applies to Maximas. Based on Matt's post, throttle linkage shouldn't be messed with. My history is on carbs. I read a tip in Car Craft a while ago, and that was to make sure that WOT is WOT. Have someone press your gas pedal to the floor, and verify that your at wide open throttle. On a carb, that means make sure the butterfly's are all the way open. How do you check the same thing on FI?

My guess is to make sure the linkage has moved as far as it can freely move, without stressing anything. Is it possible that the throttle cable has stretched, or needs adjusting?

Take off the air duct leading to the throttle body and you can visually verify that the butterfly valve is open at WOT.

Everyone is right. Leave it alone, I removed it for a while and when I floored it, the peddle didn't feel right. Checked the throttle mechanism and all I was doing was straining the cables. I put the box back, rechecked, and floored (against the box) it was at WOT.
