Another Ebay CAI installed! Pics!

I finished installing my CAI earlier today. I started yesterday but I realized that I did not have the right bits for my Dremel to make that hole in the fender. It fits flawlessly but only because I got help from awsm66. He sent me the template and as you can see in one of the pictures I used it well. Inside the hole on the piece of paper is the circle I had to cut out. The circle was a little bigger than the metal piece shown because I did some more cutting afterward.
I have to say this is such a great deal for $57.50 and I got in the second day but only because they are located 2 hours away from me. The sound is so awesome. I had a pop charger before and it sounded pretty good and then when I took of my resonator and filled it in with a PVC end it sounded even better. But now that I have this it sounds so aggressive and powerful. I could not tell the difference when I am flooring it but the sound tricks me thinking it made a huge difference. Although at low speeds I really can tell between 1500 and 2000 rpm. Well here are the pics.

Looking good What's the filter like? K&N-like quality or more of the $8 Ebay variety? Even without a filter, $58 shipped is a great deal for the pipes alone.

Well the filter that came with it is so puny I could just about place it in my current one if the opening was bigger. I can try to get you a pic of how the filter is placed but it is really strait forward, awsm66 as some good pics of the same kit, but he is using that puny filter for that not so puny car. But I am sure he will change that later on.

Yeah I just talked to Maxima_Mike and he told me he talked to the seller and the seller said that he stopped selling them but he will resume soon. I have no idea why he would stop all of a sudden, and with this good advertising that I am doing for him for free!

Nice job. I am glad to see my template at work. I put that in on my car. Filter is decent quality. I had a K an N but it had a larger opening. Would not fit directly on the piping. Had to use theirs. Your car is looking nice.

Looks good. I just want to say that the template was made by portdave and not me so the thanks should go to him for making it and Craig B for actually putting it in a PDF format.

Craig I believe is going to put it on his site too.

I just distribute it sine I have the kit and several people have asked about the template.

I didnt make a template because I cut so much excess metal from my fender well. I had the WSP template to go by and it was wrong for this CAI.

Anyway looks good and I am glad you got it working.

HAHA The filter is the last thing on my mind at the moment LOL. I will eventually put a K&N but not for a long time. Heck I have already taken my CAI off again so I will not mess it up with the fender being off.

for anyone interested in the filter placement look on my cardomain site... i have several pics of the cai installed and the filter placement (its a good shot since the fender is off).

oh heck for you lazy folks here are a couple shots:

Yes greddymax you have to cut a hole to make it work. If you want the template you can download it here but please people if you dont need it dont download it. Dont want comcast getting mad at me for too much bandwidth use.

I could not have done mine without awsm66's help. I know that Craig has the template on his site but I could not find the link to it. Maybe he will post it. Again kudos to Mike for all the help he has given me many times over. It is always nice to help each other out. What comes around goes around. Cast your bread upon the water.....

Thanks Craig. Definitely a nice mod for the money. Thanks to awsm66 for taking a chance on an ebay item with the wrong description.

well, i sent an email to this seller asking when they would put more up on auction and this is the response i received :

We are not sure because our manufacturer is not making it, and we need to find another manufacturer. I believe they are not going to list in the near future. But once we have it, we will post it

Regards
liveonspeed

so, it looks like those who bought one off this seller got the last few
...at least for a while

I had no idea. Thank you so much portdave, and thank you Craig B for putting it in pdf. I could not have done such a good job with out both of your help. Hopefully the seller finds someone else to make it, cause this cold air is so fun, it evens sounds good at 36 mph in 5th, very throuty.

Oh and midoriryu, The 300zx tt is my friends. That is weird you have the same pearl white z as him and the same emerald maxima as me! If we take a picture the caption will say somthing like "double vision" or somthing like that, hehe.

As for the filter I think I will eventually get an apexi, but that is too much money right now to spend on just a filter.

If it wasn't for your suggestion I would not have made a template. I have a hard enough time being responsible for myself. LOL.

Too bad about them not listing them right now. Hopefully someone will pick up the slack and get them available again soon.

You have to remember that it is covered by the splash shield. I just dont have it on in those pics so I can show how it looks in there.

Water and dirt will not be a problem unless you go through pretty deep puddles. If you normally make a habit of that then I would suggest you get a bypass valve.

You don't need one unless you plan on creek stomping with the max

@TSoprano --> This CAI they're talking about won't fit on your car. We have the same engine (VG) and the piping is different for yours and mine. I've heard of a couple of guys that used a CAI for a 90-93 Honda Accord because the piping is the same measurements as the ones sold for our car, just much cheaper in price. I purchased one from eBay, so I can't wait to get it (along with the WSP y-pipe I also purchased...

I told y'all I'm getting this car together FINALLY...

Does anyone have pics of a CAI on a VG engine??? I'd like to see how it's supposed to look and if anybody has a template for it, please share!

@TSoprano -- Keep in touch with me and I'll let U know how it all goes once I get everything installed... or just check my website for the details!

Yea definitley lemme know how it fits... Do you have a link to the one you bought??

BTW nice job you did with your system install.. I'm planning something similar but I'll prolly make sidewalls for my amps

@TSoprano...

Here's the link, bro... It's only $27, but they're charging $20 to ship plus taxes for us Californians...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...473523727&rd=1

BTW - Thanks for the compliment on the system, man! Thanks for checkin' out a brotha's site and all that...

I'd like to find out if anyone with a VG has a template or plans for the job they did with this intake. I plan to chronicle the whole installation thang once I get the parts and all. I'd like to do it when I get my whole exhaust setup so I can feel the difference right away. I just bought the y-pipe today, so I'm really excited about the whole thing starting to come together. I just have to decide on a muffler and possibly a b-pipe, because I already know I'm getting the Carsound Hi-Flow Cat to go with my setup.

My next obstacle is to find out how much a R&P and front driver's side axle/alignment's gonna run... I'm looking to get the KYB GR-2s and Eibach Pro Kit for the suspension next. I just gotta be disciplined and follow through with my plan.

Holla back atcha bro !!!

So the entire intake for the 90-93 accord fits our car exactly? No modification/cutting or anything like that, all i need is the maf adapter? I'm still hell bent on getting one of these since the piggie thing didn't go through exactly. Will THIS ONE work?

Am I missing ? I asked one question is that does it require to cut the hole into the fender and I dont have a special tools since I am in Miami and left all special tools in Boston. I guess, I ll have to work harder to cut the hole with a drill n bits to see how it goes from there and i might reconsider to sell the cai which the package isnt open so it is all brand new , any thoughts?
