Good news. I received Candiman's brackets today. If I have time, I'll go down to the fab shop and talk to them.

Is the price still $45? I'm planning on big brakes down the road after some more important projects, but I'd like to get in on this too. Is that including shipping?

Rosa, you kill me man! HEH Wrong end of the car. This is for the rear brakes. I'm going to assume that the brackets for the rears might be 1.3-1.5 times the price of the front brackets due to the complexity and size.

More important projects? More important than brakes?! hehe. $45 is the shipped price for the FRONT bbk brackets. That is once I get more made.

"Rosa, you kill me man! HEH Wrong end of the car. This is for the rear brakes. I'm going to assume that the brackets for the rears might be 1.3-1.5 times the price of the front brackets due to the complexity and size."

When was I asking about the price on the front brakes?

"My BBK cobra rotor brackets were about $45 shipped. I will assume I can sell them for about the same. But I won't know until later. This bracket is flat but more complicated."

This is why I was referring to the $45, because I think you were saying that you could sell "them", or the rear brackets, for around the same price as the fronts. If I read the statement wrong, please clarify. I realize from the title of the post that this is for the rears, I'm not some teenage rice boy who doesn't read the title and the thread before posting. Well, I usually read first

"More important projects? More important than brakes?! hehe. $45 is the shipped price for the FRONT bbk brackets. That is once I get more made."

Yes, more important projects than UPGRADED brakes, my current ones work just fine, and my stock ones work for my car just as they work for almost every other maxima owner's car on this forum without a BBK. I am looking into the front BBK as well so if you are still making brackets for the front let me know. I have not researched the front brake kit because I don't plan on doing either the front or the rear for a long time, so I don't know all that goes into it. All I'm trying to do is get a hold of the parts that have to be fabbed while I can get a hold of them so when it comes time to complete the project I'll just have to order existing parts or make a run the the junkyard.

I do appreciate your heading this up Jeff, and I hope we are clear on this. If not let me know so we can get this straight.

Sadly a machine shop that a guy i know from church owns is closing its doors, their manufacturing business has declined over the past 6 years to a point where stuff like even getting brackets and stuff kept them going, but they are out the end of the month.

I hope the guy you know is doing pretty well on the other coast.

Looking forward to hearing about the price and also seeing a picture of the bracket alone and installed.

Update. Sorry for the delay. I do work.

REAR bbk is at the fab shop. Drawing will take about a week. But the ball is rolling. Cost? Don't know. Should be SIMILAR to the fronts. But expect a bit more. I contracted for FIVE sets to be made. I get one of course . So FOUR are left. If demand is high enough, I could order more but chime in within this week (aka Starting today May 5th, 2004')

BETTER NEWS.

He had 5 sets of FRONT BBK brackets(for the 13" Cobra rotors) at the shop! I had enough $ to grab 2 sets right then. So I have these NOW. $45 shipped per set.

Put me down for a set of the rears, as long as they are around the same price as the fronts.

now.. to throw you all off a bit...!

for the front BBK, could one use the stock calipers and a Z rotor? or, maybe even a 5th-6th gen front rotor? I don't mind brackets.. but for me, it gets expensive when you throw in calipers. I wouldn't mind doing the rears like you guys are talking about, but I'd like to keep the calipers the same (minus the rears of course).

If anyone is confused, i'm talking about the entire BBK setup with stock calipers up front only. Rears will be the post 10/90 calipers.

Oh, and on a sidenote... those cheapo rotors that you can pick up from Schucks or wherever you get them are (9 times out of ten) warped right out of the box. Get them turned before you put them on. It will save a lot of headaches in the end. The higher end rotors (Brembos and whatnot) are less likely to be warped out of the box. It still is a good idea to turn them .002 of an inch regardless.

No problem, I know what it's like to deal with a vendor. Besides I've had other things up my sleeve during the wait.

Update. The rear brackets are done! I got 5 sets made.
Bad news: They will be $70 shipped. Yes more expensive than the other brackets but it's larger and a more intricate design.
So far I have:
Jeff92se
Seamax
Donald
Rosa maybe
1989 max (with a 92se) maybe
CRs max?

As you can see more than 5 have chimed in. Better chime in now.

I won't be available for a few days though.

If it affects fitment, they won't be sold. PERIOD. I don't operate like that.

Yeah, I got my hub rings from candiman today, they are so small...for the money i was expecting something bigger...lol

Not quite sure what the material is...maybe aluminum with a coating?, but i could have probably whipped up a set in the metal shop if i had known what they were like.

I took a closer look at the brackets and the dimensions seem to be fine. I'll be installing one or both sides today and will comment.

Aight, this all sounds like a Charlie Brown teacher talk to me, so, I have a set of Front 300zx calipers and rotors! Tell me if I'm right, the 13.0in cobra rotors will fit on the 300zx caliper that I have with this kit? And if I buy a front and rear kit, all I would then have to buy is 4 Cobra rotors and a set of rear 300zx calipers?! Please tell me, I would love to buy the kit, just not sure if it is what Im looking for.

Drrrive:

Ok, you have a few options on the front:
1. Get the 300zx rotors shaved a few mm and use them, this will offer better resistance to fading but thats about it.

2. Buy Jeff's front brackets ($45shipped IIRC), Mikes Hubcentric rings and then some Cobra Rotors (94-98 seem to be the fool proof years, I'm not sure if they changed for 99-present, but I know 94-98 cobra rotors work). Then you will have 13" rotors. These will improve stopping distances and more resistant to fading.

Then for the rear:
1. Buy Jeff's brackets then buy some Z31 rear rotors. 1986 300ZX Turbo rear rotors seem to be the ticket item. Then you use your stock calipers.
