Engine temp gauge not working...

All the gauges in my cluster work but the engine temp gauge (Check engine light is on too)... I have driven the car over 500 miles in the past few days and the gauge has not moved from its rest position... What should I check for that would make the temp gauge not work?

-I noticed that the gauge lights have been modified to blue with orange needles... could the person who modded the cluster forgotten to plug the gauge back in? When they changed the needle light could they have broken it trying to put the needle back on?

-What should I check for in the engine bay? Are there any places where connections may have come loose?

Thanks,
-Rob

I have the same problem, the guage only works when tapping on the instrument cluster. I believe it's just a bad connection on the back of the instrument cluster. Try taking the cluster out and tightening the screw connection behind the temp guage.
