Lock Cylinder....bout to replace.....need some advice

I am planning on ordering a new lock cylinder on 4/16/2004. The sympton that I am having now is that I can only lock the driver side door when i'm intending to lock all the doors. I can lock the doors fine from the inside but the driver side door only locks the driver side door. I am now manually locking all the doors except the driver side door from the inside. I then lock the driver side door from the outside and get on my way.....

Anyone had this problem and if so how hard is it to reinstall??

*P.S.* Gas prices just hit $2 for regular.....WTF

I haven't had this problem, but I did just finish putting all 4 door handles together and back onto my car yesterday.

Since you have an SE and therefore no keypads, it should be fairly easy. The wires that go to the front door handles were a huge hassle to deal with. Switching the lock cylinder in a door handle should be a fairly easy process, they come apart and go back together very straight forward.

There are a bunch of pieces that go on the door handle which I have no clue what they did... Are you positive that the cylinder is the problem?

Well, i'm pretty positive. I looked inside and the assembly was rusted and looked like it wasn't catching the lock right from the outside.....it was fine when I used the unlock/lock switch from the armrest switch because it unlocked/locked all te doors. I've talked to a few other guys and the thing thats what's wrong too.......The part inside the handle is very rusted looks like it is not catching right when the key from the outside turns and I can def. tell when I lock that door from the outside.......

What do you guys think?

If your talkin crap, i'm not gonna bother replying. If your serious, our cars have the feature where when you lock the doors from the inside and then clsoe the door to go somewhere, they will automatically unlock all the doors. This happens in case people leave there keys in their car.

Anyone else?

Hold the door handle up as you are closing the door, then release. (If you're locking all the doors from the inside) It's a japanese thing. And no i'm not talkin crap, you would know it if i was.

did you try holding the handle up after locking the doors and then closing the door? All early nissans are like that. I usually just push driver's lock down from inside then hold the handle up until the door is closed.

1 do the doos lock and unlock fine with the button on the door?

2 do the doors lock and unlock together if you use the key?( dunno if thas an option, but my cars had it and so do everyone i know)

my doors will lock all together and stay locked if the car is off , key out of the ignition, with either the lock button, the tab that lifts up or the key/touchpad outside. if the car is running and i try to lock the doors they ALL will lock and unlock AGAIN. hope it helps

I'm having that problem from the passenger side. The key will lock the door but only that door, the other's remain up. I had mine at the dealer last month when it was stolen. They told me it was the door lock actuator. Hope that helps some...

1. Yeah

2. The key unlocks while the car is running but does not lock.

With the key out the ignition, the car will still not lock every door but the driver side door. I tried that with the tab that lifts up the key (I don't have the keypad on my SE) and it still doesn't work.
