Window Trouble

My windows worked fine till now. All of a sudden i went to roll up the front passengers side and i heard a cracking, snapping sound. It went up so i was like okay. Then not 20 minutes later i went to roll it back down and nothing. I hear the motor running but nothing. Also the window is now limp, its up and down by hand and when driven falls down. I think it is the motor gearing but hope not. If anyone nows please hook me up. Thanks.,

Congratulations! You are now a member of the 99% of 3rd generation owners with window regulators' issues!

Yeah...you will need to replace your regulators. Your cables have snapped. Get them from www.1aauto.com for $39 each or you can buy them from an org member who sells them. PM him at internetautomar.

BTW, replacement instructions are at www.geocities.com/craigbrace. Check the HowTo section on there.

Definitely sounds like a Window Reg Unit. VERY common on the 3rd Gen.

Look at the ones at Courtesyparts.com. It's an upgrade to the original in that it strengthens the known weak spots on the OEMs.

For directions on how to do it, look here:

http://www.4dsc.com/articles/interior/index.shtml

It's really pretty easy. I've done 2 of 4, and a 3rd one needs it. I just haven't gotten to it yet (rear-passenger).

Good luck.
