is the tire well structural?

is the spare tire well in our cars structural?
dont ask me why i wanna know just answer the question

I would take a gander, see how thick the metal is/etc.

welder + metal = anything

its thick enough to provide a little structural rigidity but does it actually do anything. i'd say no just because of the shape, seems like it would flex an awful lot. just want to know how to prepare when i make my car even more undesirable to those who may want to buy it (not that i'd ever get rid of it).

There's actually a lot of structure in and around it. (look at the rear crossmember.. it's bolted to the tire well even).. a small bracket, but they still are. dunno exactly why, but I wouldn't go cutting it out unless you did some reinforcement back there to make up for it.
