Electrical Problem or What!?

Af few nights ago while drivng my dash board/console lights flickered then all went out. The next morning I played with the dimmer switch and checked all the fuses and fusable links and still nothing. The headlights, blinkers, glove box light, dome light and all four door lights work fine. I know that when I turn on the headlights the tail lights should come on also but they dont. The weirdest thing about the situation is that when I step on the brake pedal all the lights come on (dashboard, console, brake light and tail light) but when I take my foot off the brake pedal all the lights go back out. So when I drive at night the only lights that are on are my headlights and the light from my radio. Is this Benjamin Franklin's ghost or just something so stupid that I overlooked? WTF!!

BTW ...I checked all of the bulbs in the taillight assembly, none are blown.

Anyone know wassup?

PEACE

check the wiring and sockets for the taillights
it's common for those to get corroded and short to each other
I was able to fix mine (kept blowing the cornering light fuse) by simply tapping up the wires going into each of the brake sockets

It's definitely probably the answer in the above post. Been there, done that, bought the new tail lamp. Some have said the socket was bad, I think one person lucked out with a bad bulb. My sockets looked good but replacing them did the trick. Supposedly some parts stores sell generic individual sockets, so consider that. Otherwise this can happen if you have shorted things out with a cornering lamp rewire, or shorted out a stereo installation. I can't remember if any of the switches on the dash or steering column can do it or not. But the money is on the rear lamps.

Oh, and replace the blown fuse obviously, with one of the same ratings.
