Clutch just went out
Clutch just went out
Ok, driving home from work and the last thing I wanted to happen, happened. My clutch pedal went to the floor and didnt come back up. I need a quick suggestion for a new performance clutch. I was thinking of getting a 6-Paddle Ceramic Sprung clutch from Unorthodox, but I dont know if thats the best out there and its kind of pricey. Does anyone know of any other clutches or should I just go with the Unorthodox?
Question is, why would you need to replace the clutch if the pedal "went to the floor"? You have a clutch master cylinder/slave cylinder/clutch line/clutch fluid problem.
Unless the TO bearing is somehow stuck on the pressure plate.

Well I have plenty of fluid for the clutch and Im pretty sure its the clutch because it was slipping for awhile too. I actually was just about to have a shop look at it for me but they never got around to it in three days, now I have a problem and I'm going to make them pay for the tow.
Yeah, you’re right. The shop called and said it’s more the master/slave cylinder than the clutch, but they still haven’t checked it out yet.
I was kind of hoping it was the clutch so that i could have a reason to put in a performance one.

I agree with Matt. I have an ACT and it grips plenty. Unless I was boosted, I wouldn't want anything stronger. If you have the money, you might want to ask Matt if he has any more Fidanza flywheels for sale, too.
hmm, ask matt exactly, but I think it's like 1/2 of a stock one.
I am very pleased with mine (thanks, Matt). I just realized you have a VG, not a VE, so you might have to search around for someone that has one for sale.

$500 is too much. I think Matt sells the Fidanza for about $350 shipped (don't quote me on that). The stock one is in the area of 20 pounds. I have mine in the garage. If I get a chance I could weigh it.
You really know the difference when you have it in. From 3k rpm and up the car just accelerates like crazy. I couldn't believe it the first time I drove it.
If it's not worth it to you, no worries, (I am not trying to sell you one, just giving my opinion). If you put in an ACT or Exedy stage I clutch and you will be happier than before. Anything is better than a slipping old stock clutch.
good luck

A REAL stock Nissan OEM clutch package (not KEY VALUE CRAP!) is a decent way to go. I could rip my stock clutch with 90k on it fairly well. It would sorta slip on hard 3rd gear changes but I think it was getting worn out at the time.
I have the ACT/Fidanza package now. Works very well. Engine revs really nice. Grabs hard and engages fairly smooth. Pedel effort is probably 2x higher due to the pressure plate. Not bad after a day or two.
