Turboing a VG

I have been looking into it and trying to make up my mind if I want to go through with it. I have been looking at the T3/T4 Hybrids and I like the fact that they spool at low rpms.

I was wondering if anyone knew of a better turbo for the VG and if anyone could help me determine the correct trim, A/R for the compressor and the turbine, the inlet and outlet sizes that run best on this engine. I’ve heard of some people just using 3” inlet and a 2.5” outlet but I thought you had to have some backpressure before the turbo for it to spool up properly.

I'm just about to run out to barns and noble to look for some books on this so that I can figure this out.

Yeah, but that's also a VG30ET, this guy is probably talking about trying to turbo his VG in his car.

But, anyways, here is all of the info.

this is for the entire VGT motor swap, but there is enough info in there to guide you...

T3/T4 is fine...the best turbos for these cars seem to have .63 exhaust and .60 compressor sides. thats pretty much all you need to worry about...I wouldn't worry too much about the inlet size, most of the T3 and bigger turbos are usually 2.5", its not that big a deal

technically the only difference in that writeup should be removing and replacing the motor and a few other small things. but once both motors are in the car its pretty much the same process be it the VG or VGT
