eibach springs

I just ordered a set of Eibach's off of Ebay finally. Do you guys think the stock struts will be ok with these since the drop isn't all that low or will they not handle the drop very well?

your stock struts won't handle it too well. it might work for a few months but they will go.

yeah. I wouldn't do it unless you like doing strut jobs. And don't buy KYB's either.

nope, they were the ones that were $175 b.i.n. there's one set left for that price. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEBWN%3AIT

i believe my struts are on their way out since they have more than 150k on them so I'll get them replaced as soon as I can. What's bad about the KYB's?

there's nothing "wrong" with KYB's. It's just that they are basically OEM replacements so they will give you problems with the lowering springs in the long run. Go for the tighter ride and get Tokico's

Funny

Well I had the Tokicos because I could only afford one thing at a time back then on with stock springs. It had a firm ride I could tell the difference when I changed over from my blown stock ones.

But then when I put the Ebiachs/tokicos combo together there was a bigger overall difference. The handling difference is much improved although next time I am going to try to get some better tires although the Kumho 711s they dont grip quite has good in some corners.

I just think that down the road you fellas with the KYBs and lowerings springs are going to be hurting just because of the fact of the spring rating load difference being better oriented with the high performance struts. But if it is good now then that is great and hope it stays that way.

But to each their own and saves the wallet from emptying out too.

Anybody remember KeveinClef? The guy who put together the 3 guage pod piller deal? My friend owns his car now. It had KYB and sprint. The struts are sssooooooooooo trashed. He will be installing tokicos soon. I've got KYB's on my '89. I wish I didn't. I had Tokico on my "old" '93 and I've got Koni on my '92 SE. You get what you pay for, and KYB's are CHEAP.

It isn't that KYBs are cheap, because they are good shocks. The reason they are sooo trashed is because they are designed to be a better than stock replacement, used in conjunction with stock springs for slightly better handling. They just aren't up to the spring rates of the prokits. My friend has AGXs on his 240 and we love them, and i have 14 year old Gas-A-Justs on my car and they're just fine.

I've had KYB with eibach for probably 3 years now and they still handle very nicely and give a smooth ride too. awsm66 has riden in my car and commented on how smooth it was on the freeway. I know brandon90gxe has the same setup for 2 years or so and is still liking it too.

Tokico HPs are not much different than KYB GR-2s except for the price. They're both non-adjustable gas struts. On both KYBs and Tokicos websites it says that the GR-2 and HP are designed to give equal or better ride comfort than OEM struts. They're both technically OEM replacements but they are stiffer.
