Rev Limiter?

Is there a rev limiter on a 91 SE?

Tonight pulling out of a parking lot with traffic coming I floored it then let up a little. Usually with that much throttle it would shift at 4k or so but it didn't. My music was kinda loud so i couldnt hear engine, then I noticed the shifter(auto) was in 1st. I know it went to redline or a little passed it. If there is a rev limiter, what rpms does it kick in? Anyone?

I believe at 7k... if not, somewhere between 6 and 7. Correct me if I'm wrong.

You had the shifter at the "1" position? Why? Are you trying to shift your auto manually? hehe

No haha......but since I have the worn shifter bushing or whatever it is, I shift it from Park straight back to 2nd usually to get it to engage then I tap it up to Drive. This time I guess I wasnt payin attention and went back to 1st and left it there

8k thats offly high is the tach functioning properly, U dont wanna go that high anyway theres no power with a ve or vg that high in the RPM range heads just dont breath good enough. If it really is going that high be carefull ur gunna shoot a rod out the side of the block.

It doesnt stay at 8k but it'll jump from 6k to 8k then the engine will settle.

im thinking on a gxe vg30e its somewhere around 6300rpms . Because
my when my auto shifts from 1 to 2nd its shift at 6300 and I can hear
the fuel cutout for a milla second and it will grab second and go.

I thing that is it 6.7 on a VE manual. If I were yall I wouldn't be trying to hit the rev limiter all the time. Have you ever seen the insides of a scattered engine?

that is right. 6k is the limit of the dashed redline. i've seen the tach over that, but i'm stalling out at that point. i'm glad the limiter is there because i have a lead foot and our cars can't benefit anyway from it being removed.

vg has a fuel cut rev limiter at 6000 rpm. if you go that high it can rev past it but can be quite dangerous. little/no fuel makes high combustion chamber temps which can cause detonation. my clutch has slipped a few times causing the rpms to raise to 6500 rpm (according to my s-afc) however i saw the needle hit 7000 at one point. scared the **** out of me and ****ed me off as well. the knock reading was around 150 or so which is quite high. normal driving usually doesn't raise the number any higher than 20-30. (normal for me is basically accelerating as fast as i can to the speed limit and then staying at about 5 over the limit)
