Power Setting on Auto Trans blinking

Power Setting on Auto Trans blinking
I have a 1992 Nissan Maxima GLE (V6 24V Twin Cam Engine).
The car runs strong. No leaks. Only has 115,000 Km (Genuine).
It has Auto Trans.
The car runs fine one day and the other it automatically tries to
go into the "Power Setting" Transmission mode. The Power
setting button starts blinking and the car accelerates erratically.
If I change the transmission setting to "Power" it stops jumping.
I am thinking some kind of sensor is gone or may be the mount
is worn out.
I would like to hear from people who faced the same problem and
got it fixed.
Thanks in advance.
Mitch,

Sorry but there are no 3rd gen GLE DOHCs. The only trims for the 3rd gen was SE and GXE. If you have white face gauges that register 145mph then you have a VE30DE DOHC. If not then you have the VG30E SOHC. Only the 92-94 SE's had the dual overhead cam. All other 89-94 had the VG's. As for the problem, it sounds quite odd. Check all the sensors on your tranny and make sure they are completely plugged it. I dont know if this would do anything but try unplugging the power/comfort switch and drive it.

document shows mine as GLE ! I know it is a SE with V6-DOHC-24V.
But all I'm looking for is a solution to my problem. I will take it to my Nissan
Dealer, but before doing that I just wanted to make sure I knew what
the problem was to avoid getting ripped off !
Thanks.
