does anybody know where the cheapest place to find a wrecked 5-speed max with a VG30E engine. I need all the parts for a total tranny swap. Please let me know especially if you've got first hand experience. Thanks

From the 5-speeds that I have driven the conversion will definitely be worth it. I need to do whatever I can do to it to race it as soon as possible anyway.

yeah the 5 speeds are considerably faster. mainly because of the fact that you can launc em. the shops here in dallas will usually do the conversion for about $1000 if you have all the parts.

Yeah, they launch better until you get lots of HP(ala VE30DE-T) and then a clutch to handle that power will be like an on/off switch. Have fun launching that..

They do have clutch kits that can be built up to handle all of the power dont they? It would be a waste of my time if I cant build a tranny that will handle the power.

Yes, of course. But what I'm saying is the clutch will have to be either in or out to launch at that hp level. It won't be like the stock one where you can kinda slip it and feather it out for a good launch. It will literally be an on/off switch because of the clamping force it will take to launch that much hp with a 5 spd.

I still think that the 5-speed is well worth it.All I have to do is find the parts because I have a friend that will help me convert it for free. I never pay to get anything done on my car.The whole point in having a fast car is to know that you did the work yourself.Atleast thats my opinion.

Sounds sweet man! Looks like your after the same thing that I'm after. The fastest Max out there. Or at least one of them. Its the challenge of building a fast Max that I love. Any punk can put together a fast Civic or Integra. It takes real determination to build up something thats never been done. All I want out of my Max is to go down the road killing every compact car in my tracks!

I've got a winning combination and truckloads of $$. I'll probably be at 400 hp off NOS. More if I turn a **** and adjust some settings..

Wish I could say I had plenty of money. Thats the only thing stopping me from having everything possible done to it by now. That and the fact that I'm in college now.

How long have you been working on your car. I started last year when I was in highschool too. What kind of mods do you have on it right now?

That's all you have done to it. If thats it you have a long way to go. I'm trying to turn my car into a show/race car. I'm always going back in fourth working on engine mods and then interior/exterior mods. A y-pipe is one thing I dont have yet. I cut the cat and have a muffler but I was waiting on getting a y-pipe.I was thinking of just running true duel's.One muffler off each manifold. For now I think that doing that would draw too much back pressure for now. I'll definitely think about it if I can find a supercharger for my car somewhere.

Just as a little peak into my buying world, I'll tell you the sales that I have pending now. Arias forged racing pistons, 8:0 compression, stock bore, TTZ rods and crankshaft, Nismo 555 cc injectors, custom built T4 turbo, and a set of polished 300zx wheels. Long way to go huh? LOL I'm the craziest 16 year old you'll ever meet

Why would you want 300zx wheels. They are only 16's right. I think they look pretty dumb on the max's I've already seen.Do you want your car to look nice or just be fast?
