howdy everyone!

hey hows it goin all, im a long time viewer of this forum and a former poster abot a year and a half ago, but since my car broke down ive been pretty idle on keepin up with new chat about our cars. anywho, ive got a couple questions that if could be answered id be greatly appreciative, and my car is a 1990 maxima SE. first off, does anyone here have a pic of our 3rd gen rides with the 2k4 maxima rims applied? the 18 inch ones are the ones im speaking of, ive attached a pic for reference. secondly, has anyone had an issue with the auto lock thing on the automatic tranny staying permanently engaged, making you have to push down the button and hold it in order to get the car out of park and into a gear? this didnt happen when i originally bought the car, however its doing it now. and lastly a 2 part question.. theres 2 wires with male ends on them in the fuse compartment, and they connect to 2 seperate fuses in the fuse block by the steering wheel. i removed these when checking on blown fuses and never put them back in their spot, can someone enlighten me as to what these things are for and whether its damaging to leave them out? thanks for any help guys and im lookin forward to stirrin up lots more car convo with yall.

I have the same problem with the shift lock mechanism, sometimes if i hit the brake i can hear it click and if i dont use it be fine, but im just used to using it, its pretty annoying. as for as the wires, im guessing someone before you installed something in your car and wired it to the fuse box...if you didnt notice anything not working...they probably took out whatever it was hooked to.

ya i dunno whats up with the shift lock either. i put a new battery in my ride and turned it over for the first time in a couple months, and i didnt have to engage the shift lock, however everytime i pressed in the brake while in park it would click.

The owner's manual regards that shift lock mechanism as an electrical function: it says that it will only work correctly if your battery is fully charged...I've charged my battery a couple of times, and it does work after that, but sometimes just goes away...can't wait for a 5 spd swap!

Welcome to the board.

Hey, those are Murano wheels, not from the new Max. They are 18 x 7.5 with a 38 mm offset. The two types of new Maxima wheels have either six (18x7.5 inch SE) or seven spokes (17x7 inch SL).

I am not sure if the Muranos will fit or not. The bolt pattern and offset seem OK, but they are pretty wide. I don't think I have seen a Max of any generation with Murano wheel.

Yeah, even the spoke design looks pretty fat, but regardless they'd look good on a lowered max...

Chris I ordered an amp from a guy on here the other day, and MTX...

man i dunno, after looking at those murano wheels in person today i really fell in love with them, Especially after seeing the chrome version, they almost made me melt. im actually reading that their a 35 mm bolt pattern, 18" by 7.5", the only issue im having is after looking at courtesy nissan they say to use only the recommended P235/65R18 size tire. think their just saying that to try and shoo away people like me from using their wheels for different purposes, or could their be any potential danger in applying a thin tire on them, and would a 225/40-18 size tire even mount on these wheels? if i could get a couple more opinions on this i'd mor ethan likely give it a go, it'd be kinda cool to be potentially the first maxima owner rollin on chrome murano 18's

They are probably saying that due to liability issues.

Since no one has tried them, you are going to just have to see if they fit on your car without rubbing.

Just call a tire store (not the dealer) and ask if a 225-40-18 will fit on an 18x7.5 rim. Or, ask them what the narrowest low-profile tire is that will fit on that size wheel. Maybe something a little narrower will work (215x40x18, 215x35x18). You know, of course, each tire in a low profile 18 will cost about $150-$200 each, right?

It doesn't matter if it's the Murano wheel or not. After that, you still have to determine if the wheels are going to clear your struts and fit in your fender wells.

Good luck -- keep us updated and post pics.
