Manifold Patch?

I have a cracked exhaust manifold (91 SE Auto) and my mechanic said it didn't affect anything if I didn't fix it, that it'd just be an annoying noise to deal with. Are there patches for this or can it be welded over instead of replaced? If not, what does this job run? I just graduated college and this expense was not part of the plans...

Thanks for any help.

Depending on where and how big the crack is it can be welded. Your best bet would be to take it out (your going to have to anyways) and take it to an exhaust shop and they should be able to weld it up cheap.

Yeah, what he said..

often times, it's the manifold studs are broken on the engine, causing the manifold itself to crack... make sure you have that part fixed, then you should be able to weld up the manifold and be good to go.

That's what I wanted to hear. I already did the studs last year, it was cracked from a bad tow job. Thanks again.

My rear (back) exhaust manifold also leak and have a bolt broke off. How hard is this to remove the manifold? My local mechanic gave me an estimate of $1,200 to replaced and fix the broken bolt.
Thanks is advance for your help.
