The Kelly's BB came up with one record. However, it doesn't let you see this record (God forbid you get something for free these days) unless you pay $15 for that record to be mailed to you. Have any of you guys done this before? Should I go ahead and play along with this?

No, I tried Kelly's Blue Book Lemon Check. The report checks for any type of public records on your car by VIN and then charges you an arm and leg to display it. I remember someone saying that the report always says something stupid that was a complete waste of money and so on, but then it always waves in your face the fact that the car record could be about odomator fraud and salvage titles and so on. I'll try the Car FActs site though.

try carfax
but if you go to www.carfax.com it will only give you a little teaser, then ask for some $$$ Instead go to www.maximadriver.com then on the right side there's a link for free carfax reports.
