VE's have a direct ignition system w/ a coil/spark plug combo over each spark plug, they're called coil packs. They are easy to pull, just unbolt them, pull the plug, and pull the entire piece off of the spark plug. You can check them visually by looking for cracks on the boot once they are pulled, or you can check them with a multimeter, do you have a multimeter?

i dont think so, so when you pull out the plug, do you replace the whole long plug or is there something inside of that that needs to be replaced?

If the insulation or boot on your coil packs is all cracked, I think you just have to buy the whole piece, which is like $60 per coil pack. Some .org members have actually wrapped electrical tape around the boot and I think they have had positive results.

Before you go and replace all these parts though, are you sure that the coil packs are the problem? What symptoms is does your car have? A common VE problem is the Knock Sensor (KS) and the KS harness corroding and that will cause hesitation. I would recommend pulling the codes at autozone or something, or possibly putting a resistor in to bypass the KS to see if that fixes your problem.

here are the front three...one 10mm socket and the electric plug, then pull the coil pack off. The back three have two 10mm sockets on each one.

my problem was the rear coil packs. I am not sure which one (s) but I got three from a parts car and it's all good now.

Initially, my car would idle wierd and that was because I had a cracked front coil pack. When I replaced that, the idle got better, but it still stalled/hesitated. When I replaced all three rears, I haven't had it stall since.

rosa, your from elgin? my ma is from there, got some family in streamwood, but thats beside the point, i just got my injectors replaced and i still have a hesitation through out probably 1700-2500 rpm, feels like something is pulling the back of my car and keeping me from going, and then after 2500rpm it accelerates really fast and shifts hard and then runs fine, it still isnt running like it was before i got the injectors fixed.before the injectors started going out my car was running fast as L (hel!) but after a while it started to run like crap again, thats why i think it is the ignition coils/spark plugs, before i could tell that the injectors were plugged up cause you could hear them stuttering, now theres fuel there( a full clean stream from what i can hear) but its still hesitating. any ideas?

Yes, I live near Elgin, but I'm from Iowa originally. Anyway, If your motor is actually knocking I don't know what to tell you other than use premium fuel and check your timing. Here is some good info on the KS:

If your motor is actually knocking, don't put a resistor in there or you could seriously damage it.
