Window Off the Path
Window Off the Path
Hi All
Started having trouble with Passenger Front window on my 89 MAX.
No problem going Down but on the "Up-Swing" it's travel slowed down and stopped near the top of its path. The immediate cure for closing it was an additional push by my hand while engaging the up switch.
The other day I had window down for extended period (ah Summer in the air!) but after reaching my destination, the window would not come up more
than 1/3 of the way and it would not close via any other means.
So i popped the door panel and discovered that the window came out if its rubber track inside the door and wedged itself against the guide track. After loosing/adjusting components, it has been working
Although it is working, I remain concerned and cautious about using it.
Rubber was generally OK; I noticed at one point that the rubber was what appeared to be improperly folded upon itself into the window track.
My theory here was that this displaced rubber caused added friction and eventually it some how redirected the window off and out from its path.
With the window in the fully closed position, I noticed the rubber track below hangs loose from inside the metal track it normally fits into.
Is this a repair or replace job? Regarding Replacement.... I have spoke to the local Junk yards, but they want to sell me a whole door.
Thanx in advance
