Feedback on A Mod to the Rear Trunk Plastic

My idea involves the plastic piece that is attached to the lower edge of the trunk, the purpose would be to get the Maxima letters to stand out against the existing background and create a unique and original look.

I was thinking that if I could achieve this effect by opening that piece and flowing small amounts of paint across the surface. Obviously care would be required to finess the paint around and not have it overflow onto the letters.

Has anyone ever opened this unit(via any means) and closed it again?. It is factory sealed but does appear to have some type of breather holes on its back to facilitate expansion and contraction of the plastic and the air inside.
