200 sounds a bit high! from what i recall someone saying the kits were about 17 each for bump stops and boots. If you don't install the boots, dust or dirt could damage the o-ring on the strut and potentially let the gas out. either way, the struts will last longer with dust boots on them

the boots are cheap, but he said boots and MOUNTS.
The mounts are not cheap.
They don't neccesarily need to be replaced (mounts that is) but if you can afford to do em I recommend to.
because I'd hate personally to do the labor twice.

Yeah true, my bad. But i agree, its far better to do it all at once if you can, taking it apart twice would be a pain, not to mention you'd probably have to do another wheel alignment.

Are the mounts absolutely necessary? I'm looking to get suspension redone before this week is up, so I want to make sure I get everything done that needs to be done.

My mounts looked pretty sturdy when I did my springs / struts. I didn't replace them, and haven't seen any ill effects because of that. One thing I would consider replacing if they are cheap enough are the sleeves you slip on the bottom and top of the springs to prevent them from rubbing on the mount and sqeaking. Mine were pretty cracked, but I just re-used them anyway.

Same here. I didnt replace the mounts. As far as the sleeves you slip on the bottom and top of the springs..

I just went to Home Depot and got clear vinyl tubing and wrapped the top few and bottom few coils with it.

What about the bushings? Are these what you guys are calling mounts? I was talking to a couple of my co-workers who have modded cars before (one has done 20 cars) and they both recommended urethane bushings.

Where do I get them, and how much will a set normally run?

Urethane strut mounts are NOT available for these cars.
At least not that I've ever seen.
