Pop the hood! That car is unusual-newer steering wheel, newer gauges. Seems to have lots of wheel gap at the front wheels to fender.

I received pics from the guy. "looks" to be legit as it's difficult to see the actuall installation. It's mostly engine but you can see some of the firewall.

I'll reopen this thread as it was the original

You can see the 2nd pic is the only one worth looking at. But even then it doesn't show much.

If I get more pics Jim, can I email those to you also?

Yeah, that's a newer gauge cluster and wheel and you can see where it's been chopped up. If you were going to put a VQ in a 3rd gen why would you waste it on an auto tranny? I definitely want to see those pics!

BTW:this guy is going to get bombarded by .org members with questions, sucks to be him.

FRAUD, look at what he is asking for the car !! that wont even cover the cost of the motor. Not to mention the mounts, VQ tranny, custom fabrication for it to fit, computer, full engine harness. If he really had a VQ conversion that price would be way higher and there would be pictures of the engine bay to show off the great work. I dont belive any of it.

he needs some wider angle shots to make it believeable.
But the one shot does look plausible enough, of course the ad doesn't say running.

this would be really cool to see, imagine it with a 5spd swap and a s/c on it. Damn that would be one 3rd gen i'd love to have.

Interesting. That 2nd pic definitely could be a 3rd gen engine bay. You can tell by the firewall and the passenger side strut tower. I guess there's probably a bunch of piddly annoying things slightly out of whack with it judging by his description though.

Honestly it sounds to me like this guy doesnt even realize how rare of a car he actually has (if it is indeed legit). Seems he bought it (if legit) probably not realizing the extent/rarity of the situation and therefore didnt even think to post pictures of the engine or ask an insane price.

It's neat to think something like this (again if legit) went down totally 'under the radar' and independent of seemingly main outside help (Max.org). Gotta love that type of groundbreaking stuff

Are you going tomorrow?

So far it sounds legit. He's encouraging people to come and look at it, he took pictures of it, and he has 100% positive feedback.

If it is real you should buy it Cheocwa

If it is real you should buy it Cheocwa

We should start a pool and have an org'y fanatic buy it and reverse-engineer the swap so we know how it's done.

Well, his feedback is 100% (all as a buyer mind you, not a seller), and the last thing he bought was a bible (this doesn't mean he's not capable of committing fraud - one would just hope he's God fearing and wouldn't). So....let's assume he just doesn't know what he as on his hands - until someone sees it in person.

Emailed you. A few notes. Looks like they used alot of 4-gen stuff.
Radiator: don't know why. probably not necessary. You can see the moved rad support brackets
Stock Intake: Again could just use aftermarket and save space
Battery is c0ckeyed because of the intake
Looks like a 4-gen brake master cylinder but not too sure. Could be stock.
Looks like a 4-gen overflow radiator tank.

I would assume they used the 4-gen guages because they used the 4-gen wiring harness. I would also assume they used a 4-gen ecu. Looks like and 2000 version because of the composite intake manifold. This one was rated at 220hp?

Of course the money shot would be the undercarriage as the motor mounts and probably the tranny mounts are different. But then again the 3-gen VE auto is the same as the earlier 4-gen auto trannies. But this 3-gen is a VG version. But maybe the mounts are all similar? I'm pretty sure you can interchange VE and VG manual trannies so I gonna guess the autos are interchangable.

Interesting.

But that's the thing. Look how crappy the car is. Look how amatuarish the radiator supports are. It couldn't have cost THAT much.

It really looks like a 4-gen brake master cylinder.

Fuse and relay boxes are 4-gen also.

there may have been a clearance issue with the stock MC, or he removed the ABS.

BTW leave comments that are useful if you guys want.

everything looks 4-gen to me except the oil/fluid reservoirs...

I wonder how well it drives. But for the price it's going for, that's not a bad buy at all. If only it was a 5-speed, but a VQ swap was unheard of till now.

I wonder who did the swap, how much and whether is would be more economical to do a VQ swap instead of a turbo setup...again a 5-speed transmission would be more ideal.

Um I guess it should really read "5th gen" instead of "4th gen" as the engine is from a 5th gen body style 2000 year plus.
